We revisited the traditional short-sleeve “yakko” style and created a more comfortable five-sleeve hanten that you can wear like a cardigan. This item is exclusively sold on our online store and selected shops. Made in Japan.

We designed this padded hanten to be worn like a cardigan, perfect for remote work or tasks where you want freedom of movement. The sleeve length is a convenient five-sleeve style that keeps warmth without getting in the way during work.

Every detail—including collar width, front ties, sleeve angle, and sleeve length—has been carefully tested and perfected into this new style. The outer fabric uses black “Umidori” (Seabird) Japanese cotton, while the lining is a plain fabric, giving it a sleek yet light impression. This is part of the Japanese modern (Wamodern) series, blending traditional and modern design.

What is Japanese Cotton “Umidori” (Seabird)?

The “Umidori” cotton fabric depicts a flock of seabirds gracefully flying over the sea surface. The textile features a subtle gradation of shades and intricate woven patterns, resulting in an elegant coloration.

• Compared to the traditional short-sleeve yakko, the sleeve openings on this five-sleeve hanten are more fitted for better warmth retention and comfort.

• Outer pockets are located at the side seams for convenience.

• Inner pockets are large and placed on both sides. When worn open without tying the front cords, the ties can be tucked inside the pockets for neatness.
